Even a 22-foot opening can be screened in under a minute, at the push of a button.

Openness factor

How much of the yard do you want to keep?

Every solar fabric carries an openness number: the share of the weave that is open. Lower numbers block more glare and UV and give more daytime privacy. Higher numbers keep the view clear. Slide the screen down and watch the neighbor’s upstairs windows.

Relative, for comparison only

One caveat: daytime privacy comes from sunlight reflecting off the weave. At night, with the patio lights on, any screen turns more see-through.

The 1, 3, 5 and 10% steps are the outdoor openness options Draper lists for its Mermet E Screen fabric. The picture is a simulation; fabric color, distance and light change what you see. At the consultation we walk you through fabric, color and openness in person.

Motorized control

“Alexa, close my patio shades.”

Or press the remote, the wall switch, or the app on your phone. Motorized screens pair with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, so the patio can close up while you are still at the stove.

Draper and Universal both list Somfy motors with obstacle detection for their motorized screens, which stop the screen when the bottom bar meets something in its path.

What we install, by the problem it solves.

Usually it’s one thing: the west sun, the mosquitoes, the neighbor’s upstairs window, or a patio nobody uses from December to February.

Patio Shades & Screens

Shade for the porch you actually sit on.

For covered patios, pergolas, decks, balconies and gazebos. Draper fabrics cut glare and UV while air still circulates. Manual operation is the practical, lower-cost choice for smaller openings.

Universal lists its MotionScreen for openings up to 22.5 feet wide. Down, a motorized screen keeps out insects, wind and blowing rain without taking the view. Remote, wall switch, phone, Alexa or Google Assistant.

  4. Install and walkthrough

Our own crew installs, usually in a single visit, and shows you how everything works before leaving. Most jobs finish within four weeks of the signed design.

Reviews

“I have used them now for two installations, and I could not be more satisfied with the results. They don’t cut corners – both situations were unusual / custom, and they did everything the right way. They don’t sub out their work – the entire crew is employed by the company, and they are all very professional.”

Gunjan M.Dallas, TX

“Excellent job of putting a motorized patio screen on my patio to seal it from the winter weather and keep my plants safe. I will use them in the future for other projects.”

Questions

What people ask at the consultation.

Something else on your mind? (214) 845-7676

What does a motorized screen cost?

It depends on the opening: how wide it is, motorized or manual, the fabric and the track type. Manual is the lower-cost choice for smaller openings. The consultation is free, and at the visit you get an itemized quote, with the design and install schedule, before you commit. No pressure either way.

How do I choose the right shade for my patio?

We guide you through the options, from fabric and color to openness and style. We look at your outdoor area, talk through your goals for shade and privacy, and recommend what fits both how it looks and how you use it.

How long does installation take?

Most projects are installed within four weeks of your final design approval. Our crew, usually two to four people, typically finishes in a single visit, and we keep you updated along the way.

Manual or motorized?

Both are available. Manual shades are budget-friendly and simple to operate, and they make the most sense on smaller openings. Motorized shades run from a remote or a wall switch. We help you decide what fits your patio and budget.

What controls work with motorized screens?

A remote, a wall switch, a phone app, or your smart home through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Manual operation is available too.

How much privacy do exterior screens give?

In the daytime, sunlight reflects off the woven fabric, so people outside see much less of the patio. At night it reverses, especially with your outdoor lights on, and the screen becomes more see-through. Tighter openness gives more daytime privacy.

Will they hold up to Texas wind and storms?

We use fabrics and hardware made for Texas sun, wind and rain. No screen is a storm shutter, though: retract them fully before high wind and ice storms. In exposed spots we recommend the sturdiest options, and we show you how to care for them at install.

What does the warranty cover?

Every outdoor shade installation comes with our five-year warranty. We go over exactly what it covers, alongside the manufacturer’s coverage, at the consultation.

How should I care for them in winter?

Before the first freeze, usually late November or early December, roll the screens down and brush off debris. Let the mesh dry fully before retracting. Vacuum the side tracks and use dry silicone spray, never petroleum lubricants.

Is delivery included?

Yes. Delivery is free anywhere in the DFW metroplex.

Do you work on commercial buildings?

No. We work on homes only; our focus is residential outdoor shade.
